Plato Tipico (Characteristic Dish/Plate)

Last night we went to a popular restaurant,Tipicos Margoth  that served local cuisine -  Also known as comida typical (typical food) of El Salvador, these are some of the El Salvadoran favorites.  around the plate from "midnight clockwise" - Fried plantain, chicken tamale, fried yucca root with a sweet/fruity cabbage slaw, and my all time favorite local food - PAPUSAS - served with curtido (chopped cabbage and other vegetables in a vinegar, semi-pickled dressing.  In the center is an El Salvadoran enchilada which is a mix of shredded chicken on a fried mini tortilla.  To drink, we had horchata or ensalada (fruit salad drink)

They also served several dessert samples.  Maybe someone else would like to describe those!
